The New York and Putnam Railroad (a/k/a the "Old Put” ) operated between Sedgwick Avenue in The Bronx and Brewster in Putnam County. Passenger use was abandoned in 1958, and most of the former tracks have been converted to the North and South County Trailway.
The “Old Put” served Ardsley commuters for over 75 years from 1881 until 1958 at three stations - Chauncey, Ardsley and Woodlands. Each former train station is remembered in a plaque along the South County Trailway.
