The Beacon, Illuminating Ardsley’s History
In 2020, the AHS’ bi-annual Newsletter was re-designed and reformatted. It is now published in full color and has been renamed The Beacon with the tag line "Illuminating Ardsley History." The Beacon title recalls the bonfires lit during the longest military encampment during the American Revolutionary War (in present-day Ardsley where Concord Road Elementary School is located) and the 1930s era Beacon Hill Company’s subdivision where the names of streets such as Capt. Honeywell's, Flintlock, and Powder Horn recall Ardsley's Revolutionary War heritage. The new masthead also features the rays of a sun, harkening back to both the Ardsley Sun (the name of Ardsley’s first newspaper) and Cyrus W. Field who was instrumental in the naming of Ardsley (Cyrus is of Persian origin and means Sun). All articles, queries, and replies should be emailed to beacon@ardsleyhistoricalsociety.org
